Even as a little girl Anna Pignataro knew that she wanted to write and illustrate children's books, often losing herself in stories by Enid Blyton and being fascinated by drawings by Arthur Rackham.
After Anna completed her art college studies in Melbourne she travelled overseas to further her studies and to see the world's oldest books and paintings. On her return she worked in graphic design and teaching, and painted murals for theatre plays and shops.
Anna won the Crichton Award for Children's Book Illustration in 1998, and was shortlisted for Picture Book of the Year by the Children's Book Council of Australia in 1999 and by YABBA in 2000. Anna's books were selected as CBCA Notable Books in 2001, 2004 and 2005.
Anna has illustrated over 25 books for children, four of which she has written. Her paintings and drawings are owned by and exhibited in private collections in Australia and abroad.
Anna's book with Scholastic, Always, has been published in the US, Japan and Korea.
