Melissa Firth

Author

Melissa Firth was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1972, where she lived — except for a three-year stint in the Philippines in early childhood (possibly the genesis of her lifelong fondness for tropical fruit) — until, at the ripe old age of 26, she went to London to make her fortune. Armed with a Bachelor of Communications from Auckland University of Technology and some solid experience as a web producer, this plan was in danger of working — until the dot.com boom crashed in 2000…

Melissa then moved to Sydney, completing a Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing at UTS, and writing a number of articles and short stories for publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, Russh and Nine Tenths Below (UTS Anthology 2005). Melissa works at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation managing digital product development. Fredrik Goes Bananas is her first children's book.
