Emma Quay (pronounced kway) grew up in England and has wanted to illustrate children's books for as long as she can remember. She graduated with an Honours degree in Graphic Design, and since moving to Sydney in 1993 has built a career as one of Australia's most sought-after picture book creators.
Although she likes to give each of her books a quite different feel, Emma's work is always recognisable by its acute observation, charm and ever-present sense of humour. Emma is a highly acclaimed author and illustrator and has had several of her books named as Notable Books by the Children's Book Council of Australia and shortlisted for Early Childhood Book of the Year. Her latest books for Scholastic Australia comprise the Friends for Keeps series which Emma has authored with illustrations by Anna Walker. This series has three adorable titles, Yummy Ice-Cream , Jump Over the Puddle and Let's Play House . The Friends for Keeps series features lovely simple stories about playtime that all kids can relate to.
Emma's illustrative work is held in the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Emma lives in Sydney with her Australian husband and two daughters.
