What is the Scholastic Reading Review Crew?

At Scholastic we want more kids reading, and kids reading more—and the Reading Review Crew is a fantastic opportunity for teachers to promote reading in their school! Teachers can nominate a student Reader Leader who, if successful, will read and review brand new books from Scholastic as part of our Reading Review Crew.

Student Reader Leaders:

• LOVE to read books!
• Are positive role models for their peers and younger children
• Actively inspire a love of reading in others
• Create a buzz around books and reading through booktalking to groups and peer discussions.

Who can join?

The Reading Review Crew is for Primary School kids who would jump at the opportunity to read and review books, and want to inspire their peers to read more and develop a love of reading for fun.

How do I join?

Applications for the 2017 Reading Review Crew are now closed, but will re-open later on this year to recruit our 2018 Crew. If you are a student and you think you’ve got what it takes, please ask a teacher at your school to nominate you. Teachers, we are looking for your avid readers with exceptional writing skills who can commit to meeting deadlines! Places are limited in this very popular independent reading program.

What does it involve?

Reading Review Crew members are periodically sent brand new books from Scholastic and asked to write a review by a set due date. Some of these reviews are published in Book Club or here on the website so other children and parents can see what’s hot! Membership lasts for one school year and Crew members get to keep the books they are sent as a thank you for their work.
