The enthusiasm from the students was impressive with the whole class reaching the target goal of 100 books in just 9 days! Year Fours read during silent reading time, after work completion and home reading. Thanks to Scholastic for creating a practical opportunity to share the gift of reading where everyone benefits." |

The children of Merrigum Pre-School rose to the challenge and conquered! 100 books read so that 100 books could be donated to kids in need.
We are a small rural Kindergarten in a drought affected area but the children were keen to participate to help children who were worse off. Several children found it hard to believe that other children didn't have access to books as they do. It's been a great project & has helped the children to realize that others aren't as lucky as them.

The students and teachers in Year 2 at Mount Isa School of the Air, QLD LOVE books and reading. We were very excited about reading to help needy children get books and have the fun we do. There was just one problem... we are not in one classroom (but twenty classrooms all over northern Australia). So how would we be able to see our big heart being filled in as we eagerly read? The teachers posted a big heart in our virtual classroom and we sent messages updating each other how many books we had read. Here we are when we came to town in May. We each got a copy of our completed heart. Now we want to do it all again! - Jo Mills |

Let me introduce Port Macquarie Community Preschool at Port Macquarie. Our three year old classroom set about the task to read one hundred books. On 22nd June our classroom all got together and started to read our books. We went to our library to see what 100 books looked like. Then on 18th August we finished reading our last book. The children have been awarded with a book mark each. Please find attached photos of our last classroom tick, our library and our class group holding our 100 book poster.

Hello! We are the students from 5D at Randwick Public School. This term, together with our teacher Miss Durston, we have enjoyed studying the author Roald Dahl. During school hours we worked together to read 100 books so that Scholastic could donate 100 books to children in need. For each book we read, we also wrote a book summary. It was a challenging but rewarding task and we are proud of our efforts. This is our class photo showing our completed poster and some of the many Roald Dahl books we have read!
