Solo Fiction

Jacks Owl book cover image These Solos are 56-page novels from some of Australia’s best authors and illustrators. They possess all the elements of a real novel while providing a simple story-line and strong characterisation. The books are designed to give children a feeling of success by featuring simple words, chapters and short sentences.

Solo Nonfiction

Solo nonfiction is designed to engage emergent readers and encourage their curiosity at all levels.

  Travelling Solo
Travelling Solo to France book cover image Travelling Solo is a range of Solo nonfiction titles covering various countries from social/historical points of view. The countries are chosen on the basis of their religion and climate, since these factors determine so many important elements of society. Festivals, culture, architecture, geography, history, food and dress are some of the areas covered in these books. These titles help develop thinking skills as well as reading skills. Illustrations work as effectively as the text to convey meaning, explore ideas and challenge thinking.

Solo Wildlife

  Solo Wildlife
Solo Wildlife Lion book cover image The Solo Wildlife series may be the first wildlife series to focus on how perfectly an animal is designed to live in its environment. It is almost certainly the first series of its kind to deal with issues of numeracy, allowing the teacher to explore mathematical concepts while giving children a pleasurable reading experience. The simple text and beautiful full-colour illustrations introduce beginning readers to the most fascinating animals from across the globe. Solos are available in all good book stores.
