When you read a good book, it’s only natural to want to share it. Booktalks are simple, informal presentations designed to inspire others to read a book you enjoyed.

Booktalk! is a no-cost reading program supported by Scholastic. Booktalking is a powerful way to connect children to books and feed them reading choices. Booktalks help them develop their reading, writing and presentation skills.

Why include Booktalk! in your reading program?

  • Students respond to teachers and peers who are enthusiastic about specific books.
  • Students are more likely to read and complete books they choose.
  • Students who read books for pleasure are more likely to become adults who read.
“Students should be encouraged to take responsibility for their reading and to make choices about their reading preferences and behaviours. Finally, students should be encouraged to read together and then talk together about their literary experiences.”— ‘Reading and Talking Books: A Critical Foundation for Intervention’Wozniak, Voices from the Middle, 2011
